What counter-top material is most durable, cost-effective and popular?
The most cost-effective and highly sought after material for bath and kitchen countertops is Quartz. If Quartz is purchased in pre-fab slab configuration cost is just slightly higher than that of granite, and it is more durable and contemporary than its stone competitors. Quartz counters are offered in a wide array of colors and are even offered with custom edge details etc.
Using hard surface flooring on second floors?
We are often asked if it is acceptable to use hard flooring, like vinyl, on second floor apartments when there is a unit beneath. Our advice: be weary of using hard surface flooring in common areas of units where there is one on top of another (especially living rooms and bedrooms). Using vinyl flooring in entries, kitchens and baths is more common place and carpeting is used in living rooms and bedrooms, unless a sound barrier is installed beneath the hard surface flooring.
